Here it is fellas, the news you’ve all been waiting for but secretly known in your heart all along: tall blokes and short women make the best partners – and this is coming from science!

Move over Danny DeVito. Step aside Sir Mick and come on down Shaq, women just aren’t attracted to the smaller man!

A group of researchers from Konkuk University in South Korea looked at data from 7,850 couples over an extensive period of time.

Doctor Kitae Sohn noted ‘a greater height difference in a couple was positively related to the wife’s happiness’ and ‘the female preference for male height increased women’s reproductive fitness.’

Curiously though, these successful marriages seemed to wear off over the course of approximately eighteen years.

Sohn’s reasoning behind women finding taller men attractive is both obvious and a mystery, noting how a wife ‘might get used to her husband’s height and it correlates such as physical attractiveness and strength’, reports Science Direct.

In his journal, Personality And Individual Differences, Dr. Sohn writes, ‘women simply like tall men’, while unable to say why.

He adds:

This is similar to people favouring fatty, salty, and sugary foods without knowing exactly why: such foods are essential to survival but were scarce as humans evolved – hence craving such foods increased reproductive fitness in the past.

Goodfulness writes:

Taller men may appear more trustworthy and capable to employers. Thus, they might be first considered for raises and promotions.
However, in the overall scheme of things, a man’s resourcefulness was only a minor factor when compared to his height and her happiness.

They add:

It’s not difficult to also conclude when examining the subject of height, how the study also discovered lankier men are considered more attractive than shorter guys.
Supposedly, taller men experience greater life satisfaction. With this sense of self-esteem and confidence, it might make it appear that larger men are more appealing.
We can blame this on evolution. Women are drawn to bigger, taller men because they were thought to be better hunter-gatherers during prehistoric times.
