Jim Carrey has had a career of undeniable success, having appeared in some of the most iconic movies of the last few movies, not least The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty and Dr Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
He has become renowned for his exuberant, highly energetic acting style; athletic facial expressions and flamboyant gestures have helped to make the 55-year-old one of the finest comic performers of his generation, enjoying success in Hollywood, on stage and beyond with his irreverent, off-beat performances.
Of course, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Carrey, particularly of late; the tragic death of his girlfriend following an overdose lead to a rocky period for the actor, who was subsequently sued by Mark Burton, who alleged that Carrey used “his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case deadly, controlled substances.”
For his part, Carrey vowed in a statement that he wouldn’t let himself or his ex-girlfriend be exploited following her death;
What a terrible shame. It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world.
I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved.
Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.
Fast forward to present day, and fans are once again concerned about the comedian, after he shared what ostensibly appears to be a perfectly lovely selfie of himself cradling a rabbit on Twitter.
