Donation boxes are common sights in various business establishments, be they gas stations, restaurants, or even banks. Sometimes you dump your spare change in them and sometimes you ignore it and continue on with your day.
Most people do the latter. But what most people don’t do is steal it.
Whether it’s a tip jar at a Smoothie King that the employees all split or a fundraiser for a middle school band, it’s for someone else, not you and your greed.
Unfortunately, some people believe they’re above the law and common decency.
In Deltona, Florida, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has released images of a thief of a donation box for wounded soldiers.
A man walked into a 7-Eleven on Nov. 26 and swiped the donation box right from under everyone’s noses.
According to Sheriff Mike Chitwood, the man “walked up to the counter and took the troop donation box while employees were helping other customers.” What kind of horrible person steals from wounded soldiers?
Security camera footage revealed the man’s face and that he was driving an orange Kia Soul.
They posted both images on Facebook to encourage the public to help them track down this scumbag.
Speaking of scumbag, that’s actually what the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office calls these particularly unsavory criminals.
They have a tradition called S.C.U.M.B.A.G. of the Week.
That acronym stands for “Suspected Criminal Unconcerned With Morals or Basic Acts of Goodness.” What an awesome way to spread awareness and engage with the community!
With such a good picture of his face and an extremely identifiable car, this S.C.U.M.B.A.G. will likely be identified and brought to justice soon.
If you’re gonna swipe something, this really isn’t the best way to go about it.
In fact, don’t swipe anything! It’s illegal and wrong, especially when you’re taking donated money for troops.
