Police in Germany are desperate for information on a girl being abused in a video which has surfaced on the dark web.
Detectives think she is still being abused and are calling for anyone who recognises the child to come forward.
The police are so desperate to identify her they have released images in the hope members of the public will be able to confirm her identity.
The girl is believed to be between four or five years of age and the sexual abuse is thought to have been filmed somewhere in Germany between October last year and July 2017.
The German Federal Police Office said:
The picture and video recordings of the sexual abuse of the child were discovered for the first time in July 2017 on a child pornography platform in the so-called Darknet.
The Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Frankfurt am Main and the BKA assume that the activities took place in the period from October 2016 to July 2017 in Germany.
The extensive investigation carried out so far did not lead to the identification of the extremely cautious acting suspect. No picture or video recordings are available.
The statement continued:
The BKA assume that the victim is still exposed to the access of the unidentified suspect, so continued sexual abuse of the child can not be ruled out.
Since there are no further investigative possibilities, the District Court of Giessen ordered a public inquiry with pictures of the victim.
The Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt Attorney General) and the BKA hope to identify with the support of the public the unknown victim and the unknown suspects, as well as to be able to end ongoing sexual abuse.

The dark web is a portion of the internet which is not readily accessible by normal internet browsers, accessed only by using special software.
On the dark web, users are given a much larger degree of anonymity, which has resulted in the proliferation of illegal content, including child pornography, drug trafficking and revenge porn.
In August model Chloe Ayling was allegedly kidnapped, drugged and transported in a bag to be sold on the dark web.
She told the police:
A person wearing black gloves came up from behind and put one hand on my neck and the other on my mouth, while a second person, wearing a black balaclava, injected me in my right arm.
I think I lost consciousness. When I woke up I was wearing a pink bodysuit and the socks I’m in now.
I realised I was in the boot of a car, with my wrists and ankles tied and my mouth taped. I was inside a bag, with only a small hole that allowed me to breathe.
The model was allegedly abducted on July 11 and her captors are reported to have tried to sell her for more than $300,000 (£230,000), demanded her agent pay a ransom, according to the Guardian.
But the authorities reportedly said Chloe was released when her captors discovered she had a two-year-old child – as their rules ‘forbade kidnapping mothers’.
A Polish man who lives in the UK was arrested on July 18 on suspicion of kidnap and extortion, according to state police. Officials released a mugshot of the suspect, named as 30-year-old Lukasz Pawel Herba.
