Over half a million people in the US are considered homeless, and as many as a quarter of homeless people have some form of severe mental illness. This problem is a community issue and police departments around the country are always thinking of news ways to lend a helping hand to those who may be helpless.
A gallery of photos is going viral, showing a dramatic makeover that the City of Rome Police Department did for a homeless man in the area. You have to see what he looks like now. These officers did a pretty good job, I gotta say.
Here’s the man before undergoing a makeover from the Rome, New York Police Department:
First, it looks like the man had a shower and got into some clean clothes:
Nice kicks, too!
Next came the hair. Just about all of it was about to come off:
The cut begins…
OK, wow, things are taking shape:
They aren’t just giving him a standard cut, either — they’re working some style in:
I’m sure this man has never had his hair cut by armed officers, but this is definitely an experience to be grateful for:
The beard is gone and they’re putting on the finishing touches:
From the looks of it they seem pretty pleased with their progress so far:
I’m kinda starting to wonder whether every officer in the department cut some part of his hair, but anyway, it’s looking good!
Here’s the final result! The man looks pretty happy with his new look:
It must mean a lot to him, probably more than we can imagine. These officers took the time out of their day to give a person in need a pick-me-up and that’s pretty dang cool. Kudos to the City of Rome Police Department!
Here’s what social networks say about this:
Mary Ann Boulware Thank you guys so much. Remember Jesus once said that every kind act you do for others, you do for Him. Let his will be done and Bless all the men here. Sometimes we just need a little hand up not a hand out. He will be grinning about this act of kindness for the whole year.
