Yesenia Del Valle was moments away from sending a money order to the IRS when she looked in her bag and realized a terrible truth, the document -as good as cash- was lost to the wind. “It flew away somehow,” Del Valle told InsideEdition.com. “I tore my car apart looking everywhere. I thought maybe I left it in the tax office, checking for it there. I was frantic.”
At the height of her panic, Del Valle was startled by a knock at the door. Her surprise turned to shock when Sergio Juarez, a total stranger, handed her the $676 money order that he found underneath his car.
“When he knocked on my door, I never would have imagined it was about the check. I was shocked and wanted to know where he found it,” Del Valle said.
Blown away by the stranger’s honesty, Del Valle gathered about $40 so that Sergio could take his wife to dinner. The man stated that he would be using the $40 for gas money… and that’s when Del Valle realized the truth. This man was homeless.
“When he said that to me, I realized he must be struggling and I asked him and he said he lives in the Motel 6,” said Del Valle.
Del Valle stayed up the whole night trying to decide what to do. A stroke of genius led her to create a Go-Fund-Me account for Sergio that has now raised over $16,000 in only 7 days.
Thanks to the publicity, Sergio now has multiple job offers and will soon receive the funds that were raised for him and his family.
Del Valle summed up this situation perfectly in her own words, “Don’t stop believing in miracles. You never know who is going to help you and who you are going to help in this world.”
